Bordering the Cambodia and right at the edge of Mekong Delta, Chau Doc experiences cultural diversity from Chinese, Cham and Khmer communities apparent in mosques, temples, churches and local culture making it more than just a stepping stone to Cambodia from Vietnam.
Chau Doc may be a small city but it is friendly and bustling with main color is the pastel chosen to match its ambience portraying many store fronts. It also captivates others by the nice and friendly atmosphere from the locals as well as the landscape typical for Mekong region with lots of water net providing unique transfer for tourists.
 
The town is not busy with lots tourists so it is hassle free and still maintains its authenticity. Its highlights can be named of Sam Mountain – more of a hillock in fact with amazing view over the surrounding with rice fields stretching as far as eyes can see; Cham community with their floating villages with raft houses and fish farm mostly the main means of living for many locals here. Further afield is Tra Su forest - a bird sanctuary also a swampland covering an area of approximately 850 hectares and a collection of a wide variety of colorful birds and other animals can be found here: storks, bats, snakes, turtles and especially an observation deck where you can enjoy a panoramic view over the area as well as the expanses of mangrove forests. During the Vietnam War, the Tra Su forest Cajuput was a base of revolutionaries so it carries both historic and wildlife meanings.
 
Despite the fact that it is quite remote, Chau Doc is rising in its popularity and is expected to increase by offering numerous types of visiting: boat trip through the region, visiting holy sites and wildlife discovery among many activities can satisfy any thirst of travelers.
