The city itself is quite peaceful with plenty of trees and not so much traffic which can create a pleasant place for a short stay.
Dien Bien – one of the most remote provinces in Vietnam, closed to Laotian border, has claimed itself as the memorable delight of history not only in Vietnam but also the world history due to it was the battlefield in which a decisive battle lasted for 57 days leading to the end of French colonialism in Indochina. 
 
Today, Dien Bien is not only the historic magnanimous war site but also a stop for those who want to cross the border, but more than that, it offers historic lessons with museums, battlefield sites and spectacular mountainous scenery with fascinating minority culture.
