We went on the overnight/homestay tour to Pu Luong and really enjoyed our stay. The drive is long from Hanoi to get there but the car was comfortable. The region is beautiful, full of terraced rice fields, curious and friendly locals. We didn't see any other tourists while visiting. Our guide was very friendly and relaxed he gave us valuable insight into the history, minority groups and the local foods. The homestay was very comfortable and the family accommodating. You are sleeping in the same open area as the family, your guide and driver which we expected but they had gone as far as to hang cloth so we were semi-private. Beware there's no sleeping in the roosters start well before sunrise! During a hike on day 2 locals invited us in for tea at a family ritual for an unwell family member. This experience was humbling and we learnt a lot about their minority group.
Definitely recommend this tour for a less touristic visit to rural Vietnam - almost didn't want to write a review to keep it that way.

We had an absolute wonderful time. Every day or event was more than we expected. We were very impressed with our guides, our tour plan, our hotels, our transport and transfers and the good service we got from you. Nothing was ever a problem, everybody went out of their way to deliver good service and all services was right on time. Overall this trip was great value for money and definitely worth recommending to our friends. What a fantastic unforgettable experience!!!
Our overall rating of the trip will be 10 out of 10. We would also like to really bring it under management’s attention how happy we were with you, Kamea, as well as “Me”, our guide in Honoi and “Kanja”, our guide in Siem Reap. You guys did really do more than expected.
We learned so much about your countries and could not help to love you and your people and have better understanding of your way of living.

If you are looking for a tour company in Vietnam well look no further. I recently returned from a three plus week trip to Vietnam and Cambodia and could not be more pleased with the outstanding service and attention to detail.
First-we had very particular interests for our tour and started communications six months in advance. Our Hello Vietnam representative, Tutie, was beyond excellent in both listening and suggesting ideas with no communications barriers. More importantly, everything we discussed was taken care of: flights, hotels, tours, dietary needs etc. She also takes care to outline everything in daily itinerary sheets with the inclusions/exclusions so there is no confusion.
On a tour of this length and size there will always be things beyond anyone’s control and Tutie was always available, and even preemptively reaching out, to make sure everything was going well or helping to adjust when there were issues i.e. flight delays, broken air conditioner etc. Things were always professionally and QUICKLY taken care of. On this note I strongly suggest you bring an unlocked phone and get a $20 US SIM card inserted at the airport-invaluable to help communications.
I think the price is completely comparative to other tour companies for private tours. In regards to group tours, every itinerary is different but looking at Group tours with about 25 people and comparable itineraries we paid about $1000 CND more. Of course, this is in no way a fair comparison as we were private and able to 100% adjust to our personal needs and interests as well as see ‘more’; so for us that $1000 was worth it and ‘fair’ for the personal service received.
The best example of this is how we were able to coordinate/adjust so we were often the only two people at certain venues-Awesome! This even some temples in Siem Reap which I still can’t believe. Thanks to our guides My, Miss Channy, Mr. Thanh and Nien for making this possible.
What could be improved:
First, let me say I was extremely happy with everything, but what could be improved is:
1. slightly better communication with the tour guides they hire locally
2. A daily overview from the tour guides on what to expect. Not just the names of the sites but including what that meant in terms of expectations for dress, tipping, and tour inclusions/exclusions would be VERY helpful.
As you can see my suggestions for improvement are small things around communications that are easily changed but I do like to offer a constructive and full review.
I would say the service and experience was five star and these tiny changes would make it five star plus:) Thanks Tutie for an amazing trip. You should get a raise!

Vietnam can be a little overwhelming, there is so much to see and do. I found out about Hello Vietnam Travel from a fellow backpacker and i'm so glad I did, they arrange everything for you and take all of the stress out of planning what to do and how to get there. If its your first time in Vietnam like it was mine, then they are really helpful in recommending the best places to visit. It was a wonderful 20 days tour of Vietnam and a time of my life i will never forget.
