For Pregnant Women: Worth-Reading Experiences to Transfer by Plane

23 October 2015

If your pregnancy is under 12 weeks or in the last weeks before birth (35th or 36th week), you should not transfer on a long journey by any vehicles including plane. So if you were 12 – 35 weeks pregnant, you can transfer by flights. However, all airlines have their own pregnant-week rules when transferring pregnant women. You had better learn about them before buying ticket.

You should go for a prenatal check-up before your departure and may ask gynecologist for some medicine against bleeding and uterine contractions. Remember to bring your pregnancy check-up report book in case airport staffs need to see.

You also should buy a ticket offering you a seat situated at the middle of plane to reduce shaking oscillation and next to the aisle for easy standing up and moving to bathroom. This position is also easy for you to move your body, arms and legs.

Once getting on plane, you should have staff or other passengers to put your luggage onto compartment as well as take it out. Avoid reaching highly! For the best, your hand luggage should be light.

During flight, stand up every 1 hour to move along the aisle and exercise your legs and arm for blood circulation. You can ask staff for a blanket to lean against.

Always wear seatbelt and don’t put it on your pregnancy. Remember to wear it under belly and on the top of thigh for complete safety.

When the plane takes off and lands, drink much water. Always take a bottle of water with you and maybe, some fruits to enjoy to feel comfortable. Usually drink water during flight because plane’s dry air can make you lose body water via breathing. Before and after flight, you should not drink coffee or tea, they can make you have to go toilet many times – this makes you lose body water, too. Avoid eating cabbage and carbonated beverages due to their effects of gas’s expansion making bloating and discomfort.

Wearing comfortable clothes including not many button makes favourable condition for being in toilet. You should also wear many layers of clothe to adopt with extraordinary temperature on plane. A fit or a little larger pair of shoes and thick shocks are easy for you to take off for feet’s open-air.

Take a medical report book providing health condition of pregnant women in pregnancy, the latest prenatal check-up report and being-applied medicines … to help doctors to make medical support whenever necessary.

For a long or abroad journey, fix your clock’s time following your nation’s time to have the most proper sleeping time.

With the above useful advices, we wish the future mothers the safest and the most comfortable flights!
