1. Fanxipan Mountain – The roof of Indochina
Fanxipan is the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula (with the altitude of 3143m above sea level) which located on the centre of Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Although it just takes 9km to the Northwest of Sapa town, travelers have to spend about 6 days to conquer the Fanxipan’s peak. Winding through the trails, visitors can also discover the diversity of fauna and flora with many precious species of local land.
2. The Sapa ancient church

3. Cat Cat Village
Only far from Sapa town about 2km, Cat Cat village is an interesting destination for those who have passion on learning about customs and practices of H’Mong people. Local inhabitants still remain traditional craft, for instance, weaving brocade fabrics. Along with household works, H’Mong women often sits by looms to make sophisticated brocade sheets which are embroidered with colorful shapes of geometry.
4. Ta Phin Village
Driving about 30 minutes to the East of Sapa town, Ta Phin village gathers a large number of Red Dao ethnic groups. Like Cat Cat village, it is well-known for weaving brocade fabrics but their brocade products make distinctive features. Details on clothes, bags or scarves is mostly red outstanding on the background of black color. Visiting this village, tourists also have an opportunity for discovering Ta Phin cave with a majestic stalactite system.
5. Muong Hoa Valley
Muong Hoa valley is famous for the old stones of the early Vietnamese with at least 159 stones which were carved with the strange pictures and signs. Flowing through Muong Hoa Valley, Muong Hoa River not only embellishes for the natural landscape but also bears up the life source for terraced paddy field around it.
6. Lao Chai – Ta Van village
If anyone has a passion with trekking, a trip from Lao Chai village to Ta Van village may be an ideal choice. Lao Chai is the settlement of more than 100 families of Black H’Mong people. This site is also the starting point of Muong Hoa Valley. After visiting this village, visitors will wind through the trails which guide to Ta Van village. The road between Lao Chai and Ta van village has awe-inspiring landscape with the pristine beauty of the mountainous area in Vietnam. Setting foot on Ta Van village, everyone has a chance to experience the daily life of Giay ethnic groups. Until now, they have still preserved numerous beauties of local culture such as the ancient literary works or long standing festivals.
7. Cong Troi (The Heaven Gate)
Cong Troi lies on the peak of Tram Ton pass on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, the highest road of Vietnam until now. Far from 18km to the North of Sapa town, a magnificent overview of this site brings a feeling of satisfaction for tourists because majestic mountains lay side by side, especially the Fanxipan – the highest summit in Indochina. Looking down from Cong Troi, everyone can enjoy beautiful scenery of nature with extreme abyss, wild plants, large valleys and winding roads. It is certainly a must-see destination for a Sapa trip because of its full of experience.
8. Bac Ha Market
Although it takes a long distance from Sapa to Bac Ha market (about 80km), this destination is really a lively picture about cultural identities of ethnic groups in the Northwest of Vietnam. The market is organized weekly on every Sunday with the participation of ethnic people such as H’Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung… Bac Ha market has still saved outstandingly traditional features due to the big changes of business. On every corners of this market, tourists are attracted by colorful costumes which manifest for each own ethnic groups. Everyone comes to exchange daily items such as animals, brocade products and jewelry. Sometimes, both the sound of bamboo flutes and the voice of local singers are raised among the bustling atmosphere of Bac Ha market which created the unique elements for this mountainous market.
