Tay An Pagoada (Chùa Tây An)
Tay An Pagoda is in Cham and Khmer style
Tay An pagoda which is also called under the name “Tay An pagoda in the Sam mountain” or “The old pagoda of Tay An”, is located in a fork near the Sam mountain (Vinh Te, Chau Doc, An Giang). People go to Tay An pagoda not only to pray, worship, but also to enjoy the famous tourist attractions with the typical architecture of the Cham and Khmer ethnic.
Because this pagoda was built in durable materials as bricks, tiles, and cement, it has been retained its original architecture until now. Especially, there is a Quan Am Thi Kinh statue in the center of the triple portal. Besides, there are two black and white elephants statue in front of the two-storey Buddha statue in the center of the pagoda.
Most of the statues in Xian Temple are made of noble wood, elaborately carved and express evidently the sculptural style of Vietnam in the 19th century. Besides, there are many horizontal lacquered boards as well as colorful parallel sentences.
Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum
Thoai Ngoc Hau reclaimed Tam Giang Lagoon
Known as one of the famous relics in the Sam mountain, there are the temple of Thoai Ngoc Hau and his grave and his wives’ which is built in the 30s of the 20th century. Thoai Ngoc Hau is known as with meritorious of exploitation and the protection the An Giang province. He did get the people of two Quang Nam and Quang Ngai province together to Chau Doc, Long Xuyen. In addition, he is famous for construction of Thoai Ha canal and Vinh Te canal with the length of 90km.
At that time, Thoai Ngoc Hau and his people had to use rudimentary tools to build these two canals. After the work had been completed, he was praised and give, the edict to take the name Thoai Ha (Thoai Ngoc Hau’s first name) and his wife's name Vinh Te to the Vinh Te canal by the king.

With the height about 284 m, the Sam mountain and the mountains in the Seven Mountains range has created a natural poetic landscape of the Southwest. Moreover, there is also has a paved road for car running around to the top of the mountain in the Sam mountain.
According to local legend, because there are many genies as well as Buddhist temple in the Sam mountain, every year there are many people from everywhere coming here for pilgrimage and worship. There are about 200 temples and pagodas along the road to the summit of this mountain. Especially, on the mountain there is a fortress built during French colonial times.
The temple of Holy Mother of the Realm worship the Holy Mother of the Realm who was sent from the heaven to the world save the people, protect the national border in the belief of the indigenous. This goddess is one of six immortal goddesses in the folk religion: Princess Lieu Hanh, Lady of the Storehouse, Lady Po Nagar (Thien Y Than Nu – Ba chua Ngoc), the Holy Mother of the Realm, Lady of the Bau mountain (Ba Chua Bau), and Lady of To (Ba Chua To).
Every year, there are over 2 million tourists coming to the festival of The temple of Holy Mother of the Realm on the Sam mountain for pilgrimage during 7 festive days.
Vinh Te Canal
Vinh Te Canal reflects the creativity of Vietnamese
Known as one of two famous canals between An Giang and Kien Giang province, this canal was built in 1824, and links Chau Doc to Ha Tien sea gate with the length of about 205 miles.
This canal’s name is under the name of Madame Chau Vinh Te – a wife of Thoai Ngoc Hau who led a thousand people to build this canal.
The Vinh Te canal is not only an important construction in transportation, border security, but also an expression of the creation of the Vietnamese.
