1. Choose a Suitable Destination
The principle is "go wherever you like", choose the suitable place for your preference, do not follow trends. If you like mountain climbing, choose where you can do it. If you like delicious foods, then choose the place famous for good foods and shopping centers. If you like heritage monuments, choose where there are many heritage monuments. If you like sea, then choose where there are beautiful beaches ...
Refer to Lonely Planet, Wiki Travel, Tripadvisor ..., talk with people you met along the way, read blogs of well-known travel bloggers, read travelogues, Google, Forum, watch TV.. There is abundant information, try to look up, do not be lazy.
2. Design a Suitable and Flexible Schedule
Sometimes you have a short-term trip but you want to race, design a schedule full of places and activities. When travelling you should have been relaxed, entertained instead of being attacked by stress just because of the schedule.
Therefore, the schedule should be balanced between relaxing activities, and there should always have space for ... changes. Because the weather is never like what you want, robbery can happen anytime; flights can be canceled, which you cannot predict.
3. Increase Activities, Decrease Sighseeing
Travel is not just trying your best to go to a country or a city for just visiting, taking photo. Each place has a lot of things to explore. You can trek, row boats, hike, join a cooking class, enjoy road trip, swim or dive. Let’s activate your body!
4. Learn about the Destination
Never let yourself in the situation that when you have posted a beautiful picture on facebook, then your friends ask you what interesting things in this place, you know nothing. Once you have been, you should know where you are standing, what special things you can find there.
5. Choose Your Accompany Carefully
It is not sure that your lover, best friends, good friends would also be a suitable companion on the road. Some times, at the beginning of the trip you feel cheerful, but after the trip you may feel envious with your friend. So choose those who have the same travelstyle, interest, passion, or at least someone patient. You even can travel solo like me.
6. You Get What You Pay
Travelling is to keep experiences and accumulate of living experience. Do not spend a bunch of money to get to that place, then dare not to spend and experience special things in that place. Then when returning home, you claim that there is nothing interesting there while the fact is that you are too stingy to experience. If your budget is limited then, then try to raise money or save money in a reasonable way. "Extremely cheap travel" should never be the first criterion to travel. You will get what you pay.
7. Ready for Adventure
The most interesting thing on the way is that you never know what will be waiting for you on the trip. A new destination someone suggested, an accidental meeting with an interesting person along the way, a great restaurant you have already discovered ... Do not hesitate to try new things, do not be afraid to talk to strangers, don’t be afraid of adventures.
8. Enjoy Everything
Despite of how careful your preparation is, the trip will always include unexpected things, which might be interesting surprises, or unforgettable incidents. But no matter what happens, always keep the mindset to enjoy every experience on the way in a positive and optimistic way.
