Audrey is a female blogger- the owner of a website sharing “That Backpacker” travel. She visited Hoi An around 3 years ago and immediately fell in love with this land. She said that it was the peaceful pace of life in Hoi An, a place which seems to be drawn up from fairytales that made her want to stay longer in spite of her long plan of exploring the Northern of Vietnam. The followings are 7 things of Hoi An that enchant Audrey.
Beaches
Hoi An, perhaps, is not well known for its beaches, but it owns two beautiful beaches. If you are not afraid of paddling a few kilometers, you will absolutely have a trip to An Bang beach (3 km to the north of Hoi An centre) or Cua Dai beach( located 5 km to the west of Hoi An).
Charming and ancient architecture
In the eyes of Audrey, Hoi An is gently beautiful even when tourists visit its suburbs. Each curved roof on the walls painted with bright colors hides its own hundred-year long stories. Strolling amidst the ancient town of Hoi An, you may feel like you are in a movie, in the sounds of countless loudspeakers playing ancient melodious music.
Tailored clothing
Hoi An is known as the center of tailored clothing. There are hundreds of tailoring shops located closely across the streets, which means that guests have a wide selection of tailoring clothes, shoes or clothing bags. Audrey suggests that visitors should take time to watch shops and choose favorite materials before ordering. If you find a suite which is suitable for your interest and appearance, you could buy immediately or the tailor will take measurements and tailor in accordance with your wish. Audrey just bought 3 dresses but she was still attracted by clothing models here.
A healthy life
In the last few days in Hoi An, Audrey and her friend Sam took a bike ride to a green farm located in the outskirt. Here, they participated in a cooking class, ricepaper making and gardening. In addition, Audrey and Sam also had the opportunity to enjoy local dishes made entirely from vegetables in home gardens.
Lively markets
Markets in the old town are always busy with buyers and sellers from small shops to street vendors. If getting up early, you can go to morning market when small businessmen display their goods on roadsides. All wear hat, which makes Audrey feel excited with the scene of the early markets.
Diverse cuisine
With many specialties, Hoi An has a unique cuisine. Audrey suggested that Cao Lau should be the first dish visitors must try. Cao Lau is made of traditional pasta, served with shrimp, pork, herbs, bean sprouts and broth. She revealed that the broth of Cao Lau was special because the chef only used water from an ancient well of the Cham located in the city suburb.
Dumpling was another dish that fascinated Audrey, it has another name, white rose. Its shell is made from rice flour, cleverly folded with the core layer of pureed shrimp inside. According to Audrey, the secret formula is mastered by only one family in the old town, and 3 generations of descendants follow the career of making and delivering dumplings for the whole of Hoi An.
Night activities
When the sun goes down the mountain, Hoi An does not disappear in dormant space. The traditional music and dances are lively performed in the evening along the waterfront. On special holidays, there are activities of dropping flower lights on the Thu Bon River to pray for luck. In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to shop at the night market to look for a souvenir such as silk or several chains of necklaces.
