BY PLANE
According to gynecologist, the safest time for pregnant visitors to Vietnam is the middle 3 months of pregnancy (18th – 24th weeks) to reduce possible unexpected situation such as termination or prematurity.
With pregnant women who are under 28 weeks of gestation: in addition to providing identification, you also need to provide pregnancy check-up report book or ultrasound note to demonstrate fetal weeks.
With pregnant women who are in 28th-36th weeks of gestation: Many airlines requires your doctors’ permission to allow you to get on plane. All airlines refuse to serve women who are over 36 weeks of pregnancy.
A long duration sitting on plane is not good and may cause prematurity, blood pressure and blood clots in the veins of legs. Ideal choices are flying durations lasting 6 hours maximum.
Pregnant women should not carry heavy luggage in trip, ask another for help is good decision.
Seatbelt on plane is important for safety of mother and pregnancy. Remember to wear it under belly and on the top of thigh for complete safety.
During flying, you should move every 20-30 minutes and do some leg exercises for about 15 minutes to avoid flood clots and varices.
You also should drink much water, especially fruit juice and milk during flight because the in-plane humidity can make you lose body water.
BY CAR
Ensure that you wear seatbelt and in the right way, don’t put it on your pregnancy. Although you will feel uncomfortable with your pregnant belly, you still have to do this. Seatbelt can reduce the damages in case of unexpected accidents.
Air bag should be turned off while there is pregnant woman in car. If not, pregnant women should keep distance from air bag at about 25-30 centimeters.
If you (pregnant women) have to drive, don’t put your pregnant belly close to steering wheel.
BY TRAIN
Transferring by train also have some definite rules for pregnant women (usually over 32 weeks of pregnancy). You should check all information before buying ticket carfully. For long-duration train journey, pregnant women should have light meal, drink water and move arm and legs.
Do not lean against or stand near the doors.

You should learn about information of some medical services, especially medical establishments and centers as well as maternity hospitals near your tourist destination.
Avoid some activities of climbing mountains, sunbathing, diving and excessive swimming.
