The ambiance of this café is like an accommodation of mountainous ethnic people. Passing the wooden entrance door, you will see the 2-floor café, which is silent and simple.
2 floors are designed in an open-air style that you can have a seat in house or on the balcony. Specially, here is also the concentration of many ancient items such as telephones, cameras, watches, sewing machines, bikes and motorbikes.
Additionally, there are usually meetings of art, music performance and introduction for books. All people who are chosen to organize performance are mostly café’s familiar artists, who put the firsts steps for Vietnam’s Contemporary Art of photography, painting, experimental music … like Tran Luong, Manh Duc, Kim Ngoc, Xuan Son and so on.
According to Mr.Lu, who owns this café, this place was actually an ancient house of Muong people in Hoa Binh. After that, it had been bought by artist Manh Duc and then constructed into a private house since 1993.
4 years later, this house had become a gallery named Studio Stilt House owned by Manh Duc and Tran Luong. During the period of 2010-2014, the studio was used as a warehouse. In April 2014, Stilt-House Café was born that creates ambiance for artists and art lovers to exchange.
Almost the songs performed here are composed before 1975 by Trinh Cong Son, Ngo Thuy Mien and Pham Duy. In addition to traditional coffee, here offers many other drinks such as coconut coffee, mulberry frappe, mulberry fruit and snacks.
