Located about 90 kilometers south of Hanoi and 7 kilometres to the West of Ninh Binh city, Tam Coc - which also known as Halong Bay on land, shows its stunning landscape.
Tam Coc which means 3 caves, is an area of Vietnam that squeezes between rice paddies. It is bathed by the Ngo Dong River and interrupted by karstic rock formations and limestone caves. The harmonious combination of the rock formations, caves, water and landscape has made Tam Coc a picturesque sight between rice paddies of Halong Bay. The natural landscape of Tam Coc spreads along the River Ngo Dong, where in addition to the impressive landscape you could also admire the rice fields winding around mountain ranges like the ribbon. Tam Coc, without any doubts, expresses its most impressive view when rice fields are at its best with a bright green with yellow, ending in the beginning of the cliffs of the rock formations. The rice fields in Tam Coc is considered the Green Sea.
The caves of Tam Coc were created by erosion and the passage of time with 2 meters of height inside including Hang Ca cave, Hang Giua cave and Hang Cuoi cave. The first and the largest of 3 caves is Hang Ca cave which is 127 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 2 meters high. The second cave, about 1 kilometer from Hang Ca is Hang Giua which has a length of 70 meters. The third and final cave, also the smallest cave is the Hang Cuoi cave with 45 meters in length.
