Mekong River Cruises

A trip up the Mekong River will take you up from Vietnam into Cambodia, through the Mekong Delta, called Cuu Long in Vietnamese, meaning ‘nine dragons’, for the number of estuaries that the river splits into. You will see traditional Vietnamese villages, and locals working hard on paddy fields, with the aid of water buffalos, floating markets where all the fresh produce is distributed, and as you reach into Cambodia, ancient Khmer temples will become the main attraction. A journey further up into Laos will bring you into jungle areas that are pristine, and unchanged by human intervention. You will get a glimpse of what Southeast Asia looked like before the modern times. You will reach up as far as the area that is called the ‘golden triangle’, where the Mekong makes up the border for Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, with main destinations being Luang Prabang and its stunning temples, Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and Savannakhet.
